Space
Systems Academic Group
In response to DoD's increasing dependence on space
systems for navigation, communications, and intelligence gathering, the Space Systems Academic Group
was established in October 1982 under the sponsorship of the Navy Space Systems Division. The
rapidly growing need for expertise in this field is responsible for the growth of this graduate
program and the formal designation of a space subspecialty P-code which provides a career path
for officers in the field of Space Systems. The Space Systems Academic Group is an
interdisciplinary association of faculty, representing eight separate academic disciplines.
